Terms of use

The deal between you and Watchfox, in plain words. Using Watchfox or this website means you agree to it.

Watchfox is almost ready. Nothing is for sale yet, and the plugin isn’t out. This page explains how it will work.

Updated

1. Who we are

Watchfox is run by Ajeer Mohammed (“we”), based in Malappuram, Kerala, India. You can reach us at alerts@watchfox.site, which is also where to send any complaint. Once Watchfox is a registered company, that company takes over these terms and we’ll update this page.

2. What Watchfox does

Watchfox is a WordPress plugin plus an online service. The plugin checks the versions of WordPress, PHP, plugins and themes on your site against our list of known security problems. We email you when something needs fixing. How we check.

3. What Watchfox doesn’t do

  • Watchfox warns. It doesn’t fix things, block attacks, remove malware or make backups. It never changes your site.
  • Nobody can know every security problem. Some aren’t public yet. Watchfox lowers your risk, but it can’t remove it.
  • Keeping your site updated and backed up is still up to you.

4. Your part

  • You must be an adult (18 or the age of majority where you live).
  • Only use Watchfox on sites you own or are allowed to look after.
  • Use an email address you control. We confirm it before sending warnings.
  • Don’t try to break, overload, copy or resell our service or our threat list, or use them to harm anyone.

5. The plugin’s licence

The Watchfox plugin will be free software under the GPL licence, like WordPress itself, so you can use, study and change its code under that licence. These terms cover our online service and threat list, which the plugin connects to.

6. Trial, plans and payments

  • Each site gets one 14-day free trial, without a card. After that, sites without a plan move to the Free plan.
  • Paid plans renew automatically until you cancel. We email you 3 days before each payment.
  • Payments are taken by our payment provider, which sells the plan for us and handles tax (it’s the “merchant of record”). Its own buyer terms apply to the payment.
  • If we change prices, we tell you at least 30 days before it affects you, so you can cancel first.
  • Cancelling and refunds: see the refunds page.

7. Your data

We handle your data as the privacy page says. Your list of plugins never leaves your site.

8. If our service is down

We work hard to keep Watchfox running, but can’t promise it never stops. If our service is down, your site keeps checking itself against the last list it downloaded. We may improve or change Watchfox. If a change takes away something you pay for, we’ll tell you first, and you can cancel and get back the unused part.

9. Ending

You can stop any time: delete the plugin and cancel any paid plan. We may suspend a site that breaks these terms, warning you first where we can. When you leave, we delete your data as the privacy page explains.

10. Limits

Watchfox is provided as it is. As far as the law allows, we aren’t responsible for losses from a hack, a missed or late warning, or an update you install. Our total responsibility to you is limited to what you paid us in the 12 months before the problem. Nothing here takes away rights you have under the consumer laws where you live.

11. Law

These terms follow the laws of India, and disputes go to the courts in Malappuram, Kerala. If you’re a consumer, you keep the protection of the laws where you live and can go to your local courts.

12. The small print

  • These terms, with the privacy and refunds pages, are the whole agreement between us.
  • If one part turns out to be invalid, the rest still applies.
  • We may pass these terms to a company that takes over Watchfox. Your rights stay the same.
  • If we change these terms in a way that matters, we’ll email you at least 30 days before. The date at the top shows the latest version.
